Jefferson Parkway

08/31/2016 – 12/31/2017

By the end of 2016, all right of way for the Jefferson Parkway will be legally described and committed to the JPPHA; and the CDOT section 1601 Environmental Review process will be initiated as the next actions needed to construct the Parkway. By 2017, an agreement for a permanent Jefferson Parkway business organization will be in place. Lastly, legal descriptions for member owned parcels will occur in 2017.

Description

A number of western metro governments have come together to create The WestConnect Coalition which studies transportation improvements in an effort to improve safety, reduce congestion, and improve existing and future operational performance.

The WestConnect Coalition is a separate entity from the Jefferson Parkway Public Highway Authority (JPPHA).

The Jefferson Parkway Public Highway Authority will complete the last unbuilt portion of the Denver metropolitan beltway, the Jefferson Parkway, through a public-private partnership to finance, design, build, operate, and maintain the Parkway.

7-11-18 Private sector interest in the Parkway remains strong. The Authority is in the process of hiring a transactional Attorney in preparation for the issuance of a request for qualifications for a private partner. The FAA is in general concurrence with the scope and extent of environmental review; differences remain on the nature and extent of a safety structure through the runway protection zone.

Significance

The Jefferson Parkway will provide commuters with travel options without the need to traverse City arterial and neighborhood streets. It also completes the Denver Metropolitan beltway. The diversion of traffic decreases stress on Arvada streets.
