JPPHA

05/15/2017 – 12/31/2017

By the end of 2017, establish the Jefferson Parkway Public Highway Authority as a separate stand-alone agency

Description

A number of western metro governments have come together to create The WestConnect Coalition which studies transportation improvements in an effort to improve safety, reduce congestion, and improve existing and future operational performance.

The WestConnect Coalition is a separate entity from the Jefferson Parkway Public Highway Authority (JPPHA).

The Jefferson Parkway Public Highway Authority will complete the last unbuilt portion of the Denver metropolitan beltway, the Jefferson Parkway, through a public-private partnership to finance, design, build, operate, and maintain the Parkway.

In 2017, the focus of the board has shifted from identifying an Executive Director to developing a procurement team led by a project manager. The board believes that this path will most likely lead to securing a private partner, thus enabling the parkway to become a stand alone organization.

Significance

The Jefferson Parkway will provide commuters with travel options without the need to traverse City arterial and neighborhood streets. It also completes the Denver Metropolitan beltway. The diversion of traffic decreases stress on Arvada streets.
