The goal of this strategic result is to develop and implement a Smart City Framework to help the City better leverage technology and enhance operations and services. Work on this strategic result is being led by the Smart City Committee. In 2019 the Committee collaboratively identified a guiding definition of what it means for Arvada to be a "Smart City." The definition is as follows: Effectively applying Information and Communication Technology (ICT) components to enhance safety, inclusiveness, accessibility, resiliency, and sustainability within the community while aligning with the vision set by the City Council Strategic Plan. To put it more simply: expand our digital capabilities.
The team believes smart cities leverage technology and benchmarks to guide decisions, improve results, enhance service delivery, and maintain the highest level of data security in support of effectiveness, now and into the future.
The first step toward adopting a Smart City Framework was to identify and catalog current "smart" technology opportunities that exist within our performance measures. This collection of "smart achievements" will serve as a foundation for the development of the Smart City Framework by highlighting cross-work system opportunities to maximize success in a coordinated and systematic way.
